Your Baby’s Development

The time taken to achieve developmental milestones (walking, first word) in babies and young children varies enormously. Babies that have suffered medical complications in the newborn period can have a delay in development; but equally they may reach all their milestones on time.

If you have concerns about your baby’s development, discuss them with the health professional caring for your baby. The health professional may not have all the answers for you but they will be able to tell you how your baby is progressing and what you can do to help your baby. If there is a need for further support such as physiotherapy, they can help to organise the appropriate support.
