Information

These information pages are an electronic version of a HIE family infromation booklet that we produced for families alongside the charity BLISS.

Becoming a parent is an exciting time, but it can also be stressful particularly if your baby is unexpectedly unwell. These pages aim to provide you with further information if your baby has been given a diagnosis of hypoxic- ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE). Babies that have been identified as having hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy might need various types of treatment, including one known as hypothermia or cooling. You can access information here about what sorts of treatment your baby may receive, some of the tests and procedures that may be done and what you as a parent or carer can do to help your baby.
