Welcome to BeBop
BeBoP (Baby Brain Protection) was initially launched to help families and clinical staff to better understand Hypoxic-Ischaemic Encephalopathy (HIE) and cooling treatment.
We are now expanding the site to cover a broader range of conditions affecting the brain of premature and term newborn infants. The overall structure of the site will remain the same with a Families section providing links and support for parents and other family members and the Healthcare Professionals area focusing on providing clinical staff with some of the guidance and tools that we have developed for use in the East of England.
Please bear with us while the site is being revamped – but we hope that it will become a useful resource for everyone involved in the care of these vulnerable babies.
"It was amazing to bring her home; I just couldn’t take my eyes off her. After 11 days in the hospital, we are so grateful to the doctors and nurse and think the cooling treatment is amazing."
How Does Cooling Therapy Work?
Several medical trials have found that cooling a baby by a few degrees for 72 hours can limit the extent of brain injury associated with HIE and improve the long-term outcome for some children.
